Possibility of New Fire Commissioner at Meeting Aug. 1

The board of commissioners will interview candidates and choose a new member at Monday's meeting or by Aug. 15.

Woodinville Fire & Rescue commissioners will possibly vote on a new member of the board Monday, Aug. 1 to replace the vacant seat left when Commissioner Randy Ransom over health issues. It is the first item of new business on the agenda.

The board of commissioners has until Sept. 3 to appoint someone to fill the rest of Ransom’s term, which runs until 2013, or else King County will make the decision.

The commissioners and fire district leadership have clashed with the firefighters union and some community members over various issues lately, including administrative staffing in the department and the handling of the recent loss of a station and personnel to Kirkland through annexation. (Click  for previous coverage.) The discord led to the fire union casting a vote of no confidence in Chief I. David Daniels (click for that story).
