Sex Offender Educational Meeting Monday at Brightwater
The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office is holding a sex offender educational meeting for members of the public Monday, March 18, at Brightwater.
The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office is holding a sex offender educational meeting Monday, March 18 at Brightwater, authorities said Friday. The meeting is free and open to the public.
According to Snohomish County Sheriff's Office Detective Joseph Beard, the meeting was scheduled as the result two recent sex offender address notifications done by mail to residents in the area of Kokanee Elementary.
Beard said after the mailing several residents were upset and wanted to have the offenders moved. He also told Patch:

Our office has no control as to where they live. One offender does not have any conditions and has not for several years. The other one has conditions but is not a child molester and had lived in the same house as before (1998). Because of the lack of (understanding) I have set up a meeting that will be all about education.
Detectives from the sexual assault unit, the Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center and Beard will attend the meeting.
