Skydiver Missing Near North Bend

The man jumped from about 2,000 feet but didn't show up at the landing site.

A skydiver is missing after he jumped from about 2,000 feet Thursday near Mt. Si and didn't show up at the landing site.

King County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Cindi West said via Twitter that search and rescue teams were on the way at about 3 p.m.

The man, one of three who had chartered a helicopter for the jump, was wearing brown and green clothing, which made the search more difficult, especially as it grew dark, KOMO News reported.

Approximately 75 members of the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit were involved in searching for the missing man Thursday after he didn't meet his group at a designated landing zone. The missing man is 29 years old and lives in Florida. Information about the pilot, helicopter or skydivers has not been released.

The helicopter pilot didn't know if the man's parachute opened, according to The Associated Press.

The King County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit suspended the search for the missing man until Friday morning.

I have lived in Woodinville for over18 years. For around 5 years after we moved there on any warmRead More summer night you could look up and see at least 3 balloons and many times 4,5,6 or 7 of them but that all stopped abruptly one year. The explanation we got was that the balloonist were following the French historical practice of awarding a bottle of champagne to any land owner who's land they happened to land on. Well, the state couldn't allow that since the balloonist had no liquor license. Don't you just love government?
