Update: 16-Year-Old Bothell Teen Dead in I-405 Tragedy

Washington State Patrol reports someone possibly jumped onto the freeway, and was struck by several passing vehicles.

Update, 2:45 p.m., Aug. 17: Washington State Patrol says the victim of a tragic pedestrian incident on Northbound Interstate 405 early Saturday morning, Aug. 17, was a 16-year-old Bothell teen. 

WSP says it's not yet clear whether the boy, who has not been identified, fell or jumped from the 160th Street overpass early Saturday morning. After the incident, several vehicles hit the boy's body and left the scene, according to WSP.

The King County Medical Examiner has notified his family, and the incident is still under investigation.

DECEASED BODY OF MALE FOUND IN LANE 2. MULTIPLE UNKNOWN VEHICLES STRUCK THE SUBJECT AND LEFT THE SCENE. UNKNOWN IF SUBJECT JUMPED OR FELL FROM 160TH OVERPASS.

Update, 6:35 a.m., Aug. 17: WSP reports that only one vehicle, which struck body, came back to the scene. The roadway is expected to remain closed for at least 1 more hour.

On I-405 at 160th, the northbound freeway is closed as Washington State Patrol investigates a death.

According to a WSP tweet, the person who died possibly jumped onto the freeway, and the body was struck several times by passing vehicles.

The roadway still closed as of 6:20 a.m.
