Ah summer, a time of backyard barbeques, block parties, visiting friends and parking tickets.

Back up, what’s that about parking tickets?

“During the summer months, we experience an increase in complaints regarding parking violations and related issues,” Woodinville Police Officer Sheila Starrett recently wrote on a flier she handed out at a community block party. 

Starrett explained that she made the flier to remind drivers about parking rules. Most parking violations have minor fines. A few are higher and the one Starrett marked as MAND,  for mandatory, means a mandatory court appearance.

So here are the most common parking violations:

Parked Where Prohibited by Signing, WMC 10.03.110, $35

Special Notice: Vehicle’s left parked/abandoned on a city roadway or right away must be removed within 24 hrs (excluding weekends & holidays) or it will be subject to 24 Notice (tag) and then Impound.  Vehicles with expired tabs over 45 days or hulks can be impounded without notice.
