Woodinville Apartment Fire Caused by Electric Bed, Officials Say

The cause of the apartment fire in Woodinville last week was found to be an electric bed, Woodinville Fire & Rescue officials said Friday night.

The bed was one similar to those you might find in a hospital, according to Woodinville Fire Community Services Officer David Weed.

The fire, at Cornerstone Village apartments near the Woodinville Park and Ride on the 17900 block of 140 Lane NE, was reported at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013. All residents were evacuated safely and no one was injured. About a dozen residents living in eight units were temporarily displaced by the blaze.

Residents in at least three of the units were not yet back in their homes as of late last week, Weed said. There's no word yet on a damage estimate to the building or whether at least one cat reported missing at the time has been found.
