Woodinville Woman Airlifted to Hospital After Trailer Accident on I-90

A Woodinville woman was airlifted to a Wenatchee hospital after crosswinds blew an awning from a trailer and struck the car she was riding in west of George.

A 21-year-old Woodinville woman was airlifted to a Wenatchee hospital Saturday after crosswinds blew an awning from a passing trailer near George, Wash., and struck the car she and her companions were in, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said that two 21-year-old women from Woodinville and a 21-year-old man from North Bend had parked their 2005 Chevrolet Suburban on the side of eastbound Interstate 90 about nine miles west of George around 1 p.m. Saturday, according to a press memo. The Suburban was parked legally, the memo noted.Β 

An awning blew off an eastbound trailer that passed by and the awning struck the Suburban, injuring one of the women and the man, and did not stop, according to the Washington State Patrol.Β The other woman was not injured and she drove the Suburban from the scene, troopers said.

The awning was blown off by severe crosswinds, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The injured woman was treated and released according to a Central Washington Hospital health supervisor.
