The Washington State Department of Ecology is holding a public meeting Monday, May 16 at the to discuss permits for the Brightwater Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The 114-acre site is located at the intersection of State Route 9 and SR 522, just north of Woodinville in Snohomish County. Construction is scheduled to be completed in September 2010. The state-of-the-art $1.8 billion project has had its share of construction problems, mostly with the deep-bore drilling of the tunnel that runs 13 miles carrying wastewater to Brightwater, and treated water to the Puget Sound.
Monday’s meeting is to offer the public a chance to weigh in on the Dept. of Ecology’s plan to issue permits to King County Wastewater Treatment Division, which owns and operates the plant, for reclaimed water usage and authorizes discharges from the Brightwater plant to central Puget Sound.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m., for more information visit the website.
