Brightwater Claims Not to be Stinking Up the Neighborhood

People living in North King County and South Snohomish say there' s a lingering stench in the area and question if it's the new sewage treatment plant in Woodinville.

Residents on the King and Snohomish county lines are complaining of a nasty smell permeating the air, and county officials say it is not the new Brightwater Wastewater Treatment plant in Woodinville, according to a story on Seattlepi.com.

Laurel Sumner, who lives in the Reintree neighborhood behind the Safeway on NE Woodinville-Duvall Road, told Patch everyone in her area is wondering where the odor is coming from.

“I have a girlfriend in Clearview who shared some not-so-nice words about the smell,” Sumner wrote in an email to Patch. “When you look at the map of the Brightwater location...it makes sense. This would not bode well for them as they have assured the community that with new technology we would not smell it ( recently as well).”

Brightwater is scheduled to go on line later this month; its grand opening celebration is set for Sept. 24.
