This weekend is Christmas and Christmas Eve and the federal holiday is being observed on Monday. Here's what you need to know to get around this weekend.

If you are traveling on this weekend, check out the Washington State Department of Transportation web pages to plan your route. Be sure to check traffic and weather conditions along Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass, US 2 at Stevens Pass, Interstate 5 near the U.S./Canadian border and I-5 between Olympia and Tacoma.

Here is a list of what’s open and what's closed:

 is closed Monday. It will reopen Tuesday, Dec. 27.

King County government: Closed Monday

US Postal Service: Closed Monday.

King County Library System is closed Saturday and Sunday.

King County Metro transit: Sunday service on Sunday and Monday, and will have reduced weekday service through Dec. 30. Routes to the University of Washington are closed during winter break.

Sound Transit: Trains and buses will operate on regular weekend schedule on Saturday, Dec. 24 and Sunday, Dec. 25, except for Tacoma Link, which will run on a Sunday schedule both days. Sounder will run special event service to the 1:15 p.m. Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers game on Christmas Eve, and will not operate Christmas Day. On Monday, Dec. 26, Link light rail, Tacoma Link and ST Express buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. There will be no Sounder service the day after Christmas, and Sound Transit offices will be closed.

State of Washington: Closed.

State liquor stores: All state-run liquor stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. State liquor stores will be closed on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Monday, Dec. 26 is a state holiday. Most state liquor stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., including the Downtown , for your spirits needs. 

Washington State Ferries: Routes will operate on a weekend schedule.

Federal government: Closed Monday.

Banks: Many, if not most, will be closed. Check your local branch.

Garbage and Recycling: Garbage and recycling will be on its regular schedule in Woodinville.

Shopping Centers: Many stores and restaurants keep different holiday hours from the main shopping centers, so check with an individual store for exact hours

Safeway is open on Christmas Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
