Other campaigns for public office: None.

What is the primary reason you are running for this office? To bring a fresh perspective to the Board from my experience as a college teacher, attorney, and community businessman.

What will be your top three priorities if you get elected and why?

  • Welcoming the expertise of parents – parents provide a wealth of skills and experience that can only enrich the District’s decision-making;
  • Keeping Northshore financially sound – we need to maximize efficiencies in tough economic times to keep programs strong for students and to support our teachers;
  • Giving a great education to all students – we must close the gap to give all students the excellence in education they deserve.

What sets you apart from the other candidates and/or previous office holders?

  • My teaching experience.  I taught composition and creative writing to AP students and undergraduates at Cornell – I know how the classroom works;
  • My legal education and experience in helping the Northshore Fire District, Northshore Utility District and other special-purpose governments with real property, levy, land use, contracts, Public Records and Public Meetings Act, and personnel issues, as well as advocating for small businesses and property owners, and my experience as a public defender, working for people of diverse backgrounds, will assist the District in its many decisions;
  • My work at Williams & Williams Law Firm in Bothell, a long-time Northshore business, and volunteering with Northshore Rotary taught me the importance of commitment to the community.

How much money do you expect your campaign to spend on this election?
Not more than $5,000.00.
