Public Health Seminar on Car Seats

King County Public Health is offering a free seminar on how to use a child/infant car seat.

Child safety seats reduce fatal injuries to infants and young children. In an effort to support parents and caregivers to make sure children fit securely in their car seats, Public Health - Seattle & King County is hosting a free child car seat check up event in Bothell on August 26, 2011.

Event details

  • Friday, August 26, 2011, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Parking lot across from the Northshore Baptist Church, 10222 NE 145th St. Bothell, WA

The American Academy of Pediatrics recently released new recommendations that support keeping children up to two years old in rear facing seats or until they have reached the maximum height and weight limits of the car seat as allowed by the manufacturer.

Among children under age five in passenger vehicles, an estimated 244 lives were saved in 2008 by restraint use. National research on the effectiveness of child safety seats has found them to reduce fatal injury by 71 percent for infants younger than one year old and by 54 percent for toddlers in passenger cars.
