Incumbent Rosemary McAuliffe Takes Lead in 1st District State Senate Race

In early returns, Rosemary McAuliffe took 55.27 percent of the vote over Dawn McCravey in the 1st Legislative District race.

Incumbent Democratic State Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe has taken the lead over her Republican challenger Dawn McCravey in early returns from King County Elections.

McAuliffe led early returns with 55.27 percent to McCravey's 44.73 percent, (22,913 vs. 18,543 votes), of the votes counted so far.

Both candidates are from Bothell. McAuliffe has has held the seat since 1993.

King County Elections plans to release more vote totals Wednesday afternoon.

Less than a week before the general election, money continued to pour into the 1st District race, with more in the 1st District State senate contest than the combined total for the six state representative races in the 1st, 21st and 32nd districts, the Everett Herald reported Nov. 1.
