Teen Artists: DelBene's Office Accepting Submissions for Congressional Art Competition

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene's office is accepting submissions from local high school-aged students for the annual Congressional Art Competition until 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013.

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene's office is accepting submissions from local high school-aged students for the annual Congressional Art Competition until Friday, April 12, 2013 at 4:30 p.m

The contest is open to all students in grades 9-12 who either reside or attend high school in Washington’s 1st Congressional District. Click here for a map of the district, which includes Woodinville, Redmond and Kirkland and much territory north of those cities.

The winning entry will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year and runners-up will be displayed in Congresswoman DelBene’s congressional office.

To participate, students must complete and submit an entry form, which they can get by going to http://delbene.house.gov/serving-you/art-competition or by calling 425-485-0085.

Entry forms need to be signed by the student, a parent or guardian, and a faculty member and mailed or delivered to the Congresswoman’s office by Friday, April 12, 2013. Artwork may be delivered or mailed to the Congresswoman’s Bothell office:

DelBene will host an Awards Reception to showcase the exhibit, honor all participants, and announce awards on Thursday May 2, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The competition, which was initiated by Congress in 1982, involves hundreds of thousands of high school students from across the nation. One piece of artwork from each congressional district is displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC.
