Heads up: Work will commence Saturday night on that freeway seemingly stuck in perpetual construction -- Interstate 405 -- with up to three southbound lanes being closed from State Route 522 to NE 128th Street.
That will no doubt affect drivers in the Woodinville and Kirkland areas during the closure time, since I-405 and SR 522 are vital links in both cities’ transportation systems.
Crews will also close up to two lanes of southbound I-405 between NE 195th Street and SR 522.
The closures will begin starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, and all lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. Sunday.
The work is part of an on-going project to widen and add express toll lanes to I-405. According to the Washington Department of Transportation:
“Crews are working to add a temporary on-ramp to northbound I-405 from NE 160th Street. While drivers use the temporary on-ramp, crews will build a new braided northbound I-405 on-ramp from NE 160th Street. The new ramp will separate drivers getting onto northbound I-405 at NE 160th Street from northbound I-405 drivers headed to SR 522. The new ramp will be open to traffic in 2015.”
