The debate over the former Wellington Hills Golf Course and soon to be Snohomish County Park was visited by KING5 television Thursday, quoting one local resident as saying it would be liking dropping a Safeco Field in the middle of the rural area.
The 104-acre site, of course, was purchased by the county using mitigation funding from the Brightwater sewage treatment plant. County leaders are in the final stages of their plan, which calls for several sports fields, a parking lot and lights, along with preserving most of the property as green space.
But residents remain adamantly opposed, including one who said, the plan would “eliminate a lot of the rolling hills that you see, and they are going to destroy most of the trees that we can't put back when we find out this was a bad idea.”
