Woodinville Council Approves Alcohol at Summer Park Concerts

A unanimous vote allows a beer and wine garden at summer concerts in Wilmot Gateway Park.

 

The Woodinville City Council unanimously approved the serving of wine and beer, and perhaps distilled spirits, during summer concerts at  at its meeting Tuesday night.

Back in February, the city directed staff to draft a plan to revamp the summer concert series at the park and partner with the  and the Woodinville Wine Country association that included a wine and beer garden featuring Woodinville wineries and breweries. The city’s laws do not allow sale of alcohol in its parks except under special circumstances approved by the city manager.

Council approved the alcohol sales in its consent calendar with little discussion beyond the possibility of allowing Woodinville’s many distilleries to serve spirits at the concerts. City Manager Rich Leahy said the ordinance states “alcohol” and that would include distilled spirits.
