Woodinville Hosting Flu Shot Clinic

The city has partnered with the Seattle Visiting Nurse Association to offer flu shots on Oct. 4.

The City of Woodinville will be collaborating with the Seattle Visiting Nurse Association to host a flu immunization clinic on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The flu shots cost $28 and are payable by cash or check only.

Influenza or flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that inflect the nose, throat, and lungs. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that up to 20% or more of the U.S. population will suffer from influenza this year.  Influenza is a serious illness that is easily spread and can lead to severe complications.

The best way to protect your health and the health of your family, friends, co-workers, and community is to get a flu vaccine every year.

The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine every year.  People with the greatest risk includes:

  • People over the age of 65
  • People with a chronic health condition (heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, kidney disease, asthma, cancer, and HIV/AIDS
  • Women who will be pregnant during the flu season (October-March)
  • Household companions and caretakers of people listed above
  • Healthcare workers, Teachers, Emergency First Responders
  • Children ages 6 months to 5 years of age (Check with your physician first regarding pediatric Immunizations)

The flu immunization clinic will be hosted at Woodinville City Hall, located at 17301 133rd Avenue NE, Woodinville.
