Falcon Girls Fly at 4A State Cross Country Championships

Woodinville's Chandler Olson is the 7th fastest girl in the state.

Woodinville High School sophomore, Keagan Bolibol, and senior, Chandler Olson, ran in the 4A Washington State Cross Country Championships in Pasco, Saturday Nov. 3.

The girls were fit, rested, healthy and ready! The start was fast with girls running by the 200 meter mark like a blur of flying, bouncing ponytails.

Coaches and parents ran from viewing point to viewing point, cheering and willing their athletes to their greatest potential. Our Falcon girls were powerful and beautiful in their quest; Racing up in the front of the pack with the best of the best in our State, then finishing with sprint and style.

The 18+ minutes of that race were the best 18 minutes of the season. As Head Coach, I couldn't be prouder to call Chandler Olson and Keagan Bolibol "my girls".

The day started great and it ended great with Keagan running under 20 minutes on a very tough course, with 142 other very talented athletes, fighting for every inch all the way through the finish. Chandler ran with beauty and grace, strong and relentless in her quest for a podium finish. She ran in a 5 girl chase pack, alternating position as the girls fought for the highest possible spot on the podium. Chandler's fight was mighty, but she was met with equal determination and the final 30 meters were a fit of sprinting--no one really knowing for quite some time in what place she actually finished.

Most never arrive to race at State; finishing in top 7, is a feat very few have accomplished even once; Chandler has done it 3 seasons in a row. Rare is the athlete whose Cross Country resume boasts: 3 King Co Titles, Two District Titles and 3 State podium finishes, I believe this qualifies as the definition of gifted.   Chandler Olson is the 7th fastest girl in the state……amazing!
