Alien Encounters: Sci-Fi Movies and the Cold War Culture of the 1950s

Alien Encounters: Noted Film Critic to Visit Woodinville Library

Please join noted film critic and author Robert Horton for a fascinating discussion about the alien-invasion scenarios in science fiction movies of the 1950s. Using film clips to illustrate, he will discuss individual films that provide angles on the Atomic Age concerns which were the result of the underlying political and social anxieties of the Cold War culture and atomic power.

Robert has spent over 25 years writing and talking about film. He is a University of Washington graduate and reviews movies for the Herald in Everett and KUOW-FM in Seattle, as well as a number of national publications. Come and watch sci-fi film clips at what is sure to be an out-of-this-world event! Refreshments will be provided.
