Public Rose Show And Wine Tasting At Molbak's

 

Rose enthusiasts won’t want to miss the opportunity to participate in the Seattle Rose Society’s fifth annual public rose show hosted by on Saturday, August 11, 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. This is a public event, and all are encouraged to enter and display their blooms in a friendly, judged competition.

The public will vote on their favorites in nine categories:  hybrid teas and grandifloras; floribundas; miniatures and minifloras; climbers and ramblers; shrubs (any type, including David Austin roses); old garden roses; 3 stems (any class, color, or combination); fragrant roses (any class); and American Rose Society judges (any type of rose).

Seattle Rose Society (SRS) members will then select Best in Show from among the nine section winners. Each category winner will be awarded a $25 Molbak’s gift card and the Best in Show winner will receive an additional $25 gift card. Participants are asked to bring their blooms to Molbak’s at 9:30 a.m. Vases and nametags will be provided.

SRS members will be available to help identify roses. Rose staging will conclude at 10:45 a.m. Public voting begins promptly at 11:00 a.m. followed by SRS members voting on the Best in Show at noon.  Prizes will be awarded shortly thereafter. What goes better with roses than wine?

Molbak’s is hosting a wine tasting in concert with the Woodinville Warehouse Wineries, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on August 11to benefit Hopelink.  Featured wineries are: Gard Vintners, Alta Cellars and Piccola Cellars.  In addition to enjoying locally produced wine, attendees will have the opportunity to learn how they can help feed the hungry this summer by donating homegrown produce through Molbak’s Share Your Harvest program.  Wine tasting is $10 for five pours, payable at the door.
