Seed Saving

Seed Saving with Mary Eliza Crane, Transition Snoqualmie Valley

Free Class; Dress Warmly as we meet in the greenhouse

This class will focus on basic seed saving skills for the home gardener from planning through to successful harvesting, drying, and storing.  We will cover the basic botany of common vegetable plants and learn strategies for seed self sufficiency.  Taught prior to the growing season, it will allow participants to plan seed saving into the upcoming season's garden.  This class is suitable to all levels of food growing experience. Mary will have a follow up class in Carnation in the fall.

Mary Crane has been a Pacific Northwest gardener for twenty five years, producing a significant portion of her family's food.  A commitment to sustainability, resilience and a local diet led her to learn this important skill and share it with others.  While she has been called “The Bean Queen”, Mary is otherwise known as a poet, political activist and nurse.
