Milk Money Fundraising Campaign Continues Saturday

Volunteers will be the Woodinville Alberstons Saturday.

Ende Duerr, a kindergartener at Bear Creek Elementary, and her family spent four hours last Saturday, at the in Woodinville collecting "Change for Children" as a part of the Northshore Schools Foundation's campaign. The team will be at Alberstons this Saturday, May 21.

The grass roots fund raiser was started by Ende's mom, Davina Duerr, and another local mom, Sara Hayashi, when they innocently got together for an afternoon break at Bothell's Three Cups of Tea one day this last winter.

A conversation about the state's lack of funding for public schools launched into an idea for action that quickly grew roots. How about getting people to drop spare change in milk bottles at busineses around town? They recruited a third friend, April Remfrey, and presented the idea to the board of the Northshore Schools Foundation, where they were met with the support and enthusiasm they needed to really get the ball rolling, according to Duerr.
