From Obadiah Dunham: We had a wonderful week at Leota this week. It was Spirit Week and many students and staff showed their school spirit by dressing up all week. As I cruised the hallways and visited the classrooms, I saw some very creative outfits. I think my favorite was seeing Ms. Flowers and Mr. Adams dressed up like twins. Ms. Flowers did a great job looking like Mr. Adams’ mini me. We will wrap up the week with an ASB sponsored dance. The ASB students have worked very hard to get ready for the dance.

Also this week, we had our first visit from the K-9 unit. Overall, we were very pleased with the efficiency of the search. As with any first time experience, there were a few minor wrinkles, but they will be easy fixes for next time.

Thanks to all members of the Leota community for a great month of October. I am excited to see what November brings.

Reflections: Entries are due NOVEMBER 4. Please turn your entries into the Main Office. For questions, please contact Juliane Koss @ 206-250-6168 or julianekoss@hotmail.com

Sports season 2 at Leota is Boys' Basketball. The first practice will take place in the gym on Monday, November 7.

All eligibility packets must be turned in to the Main Office no later than Thursday, November 3rd.  Remember:

  • Each student's eligibility packet remains on file for one year, but a Safety Guideline form for each separate sport must be completed, signed and added to the packet each season.
  • Physicals are good for two years and kept on file in the Main Office. Copies may be sent to the High School for athletics there, as requested.
  • All Athletes must have a current-year ASB card in order to participate. A separate ASB fee will apply for high school sports, payable at the high school.
  • An Athletic fee applies and is payable after the final Basketball Roster is decided.

Please check with Ms. Nickels in the Main Office if you would like to check the expiration date of your physical or have additional questions.

Inclement Weather Notifications: Please remember to contact your child’s school office if you have had a recent change in your home or personal contact information. • Local TV stations and radio channels
  • www.schoolreport.org, the Public Schools Emergency Communications System website, and click on Northshore SD
  • The Northshore School District Information Line: 425.408.6001
  • www.nsd.org. the most up-to-date information will be posted here and updated as conditions change.
  • Call your school’s main number and when the voicemail prompts, press option 9
  • District initiated phone call if schools are delayed or closed.

District Inclement Weather Calls

The district will call families in the event of a school delay or closure using its new telephone notification system. Sometimes a call must be made in the morning. Morning calls will be made before 6 a.m. to ensure we reach families of high school students.

Families who do not want the interruption of an early morning or evening inclement weather call can opt out of receiving them by contacting the Communications Department at 425.408.7670. You will still receive general announcement and emergency phone calls. Additional information about district inclement weather procedures and a Q&A about the telephone notification system is available online at www.nsd.org/weather.
