Northshore Science Olympiad Teams Advance to State Competition

Five teams advance to the state championship.

Eleven Northshore teams competed in 23 events at the Regional Science Olympiad competition on March 12 and five teams qualified for the state competition April 16 at Clark College in Vancouver, Wash. Two teams from Canyon Park Junior High School and one team each from Bothell High School, Northshore Junior High School and Timbercrest Junior High School advanced.

Only the top nine junior high teams and the top eight senior high teams from the regional competition move on to the state competition. Northshore rankings are Canyon Park JH, 1st and 4th; Northshore JH, 2nd; Timbercrest JH, 9th; Kenmore JH, 13th; Bothell HS, 1st and 26th; Inglemoor HS, 10th, 13th and 16th; and Woodinville HS, 20th.

“Regionals were a lot of fun,” said Northshore Junior High ninth-grader Kristin Lie. “You find out who you work well with, and when you find someone who clicks with you, then you know that ‘states’ will be good.”

This is a full story with picture about your child, the neighbor's child, your church's youth group, or that great select tennis club.

We want to hear about these amazing youth, and select one each week to feature.
