Northshore YMCA Honored for Strong Partnership with Northshore School District

Northshore School District honored the Northshore YMCA for its strong partnership with the district providing a variety of programs and opportunities for Northshore youth and families.

Northshore School District honored the Northshore YMCA at the Washington Association of School Administrators Community Recognition Event for its strong partnership with the district providing a variety of programs and opportunities for Northshore youth and families.

The YMCA operates before- and after-school childcare programs at many district elementary schools, provide free childcare for PTA meetings at those schools, offer activities and programs at the local schools, and provide leadership opportunities for students through the Youth and Government program.

The Y also collaborate with the district to support specific student needs such as a summer camp for Spanish-speaking students and a Home Zone, swimming, gym and art program for students participating in the district's educational consulting program, Northshore Networks. Northshore YMCA is a significant partner in the district’s recently launched after-school Hang Time program at three of the junior high schools. It provides coordination assistance and volunteers to mentor students and fund a part-time staff person at each of the participating schools.
