Woodinville Schools Closed Again Friday, Can't Guarantee Electricity

It's not just the snow, but the uncertainty of power to the schools that have prompted the district to remain closed Friday.

Northshore School District schools will be closed again Friday, Jan. 20. It's not just the snow and ice that prompted the district to keep schools closed, according to Leanna Albrecht, communications director. It's the uncertainty of having power.

Puget Sound Energy is responding to power outages across Western Washington. As of 1 p.m.Thursday, it posted on its Facebook page, "We are responding to more than 500 outage locations affecting approximately 200,000 customers."

"Northshore School District schools are closed Friday, Jan. 20, because we are experiencing intermittent power outages at schools, the forecast to warmer weather has not materialized as predicted and we are not confident that we can get our school sites safe for students and staff members. There will be no after-school or evening activities, athletics, band or orchestra."
