Woodinville Students Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.

Students at Wilder Elementary sang during an assembly celebrating the civil rights leader.

Fifth-graders at Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary School in Woodinville sang a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. during a school assembly Friday afternoon. The 75 students started practicing for the concert before Christmas break, according to principal Steve Roetcisoender. Led by music teacher Melissa Headrick, the students sang the opening of the Declaration of Independence, as well as passages from King's speeches. The school will be closed Monday in honor of the civil rights leader.
