Football –
The 2011 season opened in impressive fashion for the Woodinville football team, as the Falcons used a big second half to roll past a tough Mount Si team 31-10.
Woodinville trailed 10-3 at halftime, but scored 28 unanswered points in the second half to cruise to the victory. Alec Shwend led the way for the Falcons, running for three touchdowns in the second half, including the go-ahead score in the third quarter.

The win avenged a 28-6 loss to Mount Si to open the 2010 season and gave rise to the hopes that 2011 is the season that Woodinville gets back to the state tournament for the first time in three seasons.
Next up for Woodinville is WesCo league team Monroe. Monroe started the season with a surprising win over Edmonds-Woodway, 30-24. The Bearcats dominated that game, taking a 30-11 lead before coasting to the end.

Girls Soccer –
The girls soccer team begins its season on Wednesday against Inglemoor at 7:30 pm at Woodinville High School. The Falcons are listed as “on the bubble” in state 4A rankings by the Seattle Times and are coming off of a state tournament quarterfinal appearance in 2010.
Woodinville also plays on Saturday at Edmonds-Woodway at 5 pm.
Volleyball –
Ali Forde will lead the seventh-ranked Falcons in to the 2011 season with hopes of a top-state finish. The Falcons finished fourth in the state in 2010, the school’s first-ever top-7-finish in the sport.
Woodinville gets started on Tuesday on the road against Graham-Kapowsin at 5:30 pm. The Falcons will also play in the Varsity Invitational at Auburn Mountainview High School on Saturday.
Cross Country –
The cross country teams kick off the season on Thursday at the KingCo 4A Jamboree at 3 pm at Lincoln Park in West Seattle. Chandler Olson leads the girls team, having finished third in the state in 2010.
