Former Woodinville Falcon Selected to College Basketball Team of the Week

A Washington University in St. Louis sophomore from Woodinville was selected to the D3Hoops.com Women's Basketball Team of the Week.

Washington University in St. Louis sophomore forward Melissa Gilkey, of Woodinville was selected to the D3Hoops.com Women’s Basketball Team of the Week for her performances against Webster University and Southwestern University (Texas), as announced by the website.

Gilkey averaged 22.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game to lead the No. 5-ranked Washington U. women to a pair of non-conference wins last weekend. She recorded her third double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Bears to a 77-57 win at Webster Dec. 29. Gilkey followed that performance with a career-high 25 points on 9-of-14 field-goal shooting, and eight rebounds in Washington U.’s 82-73 win over Southwestern Dec. 30.

On the season, Gilkey is leading the team and ranks third in the University Athletic Association (UAA) with 16.4 points per game. She also leads the Bears and ranks seventh in the conference with 7.6 rebounds per game. Gilkey has scored in double figures in all 11 of the Bears’ games this season, and in 23 of 38 career games.
