Woodinville Wrestler Ranked No. 1 in the State for Class 4A

Junior Ryan Christensen is now the No. 1-ranked wrestler in the state in Class 4A at 182 pounds.

After a highly successful season last year, the Woodinville High School wrestling team's Ryan Christensen, who placed second in the 160-pound weight class as a sophomore, has been featured in The Seattle Times.

Christensen is now ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 4A at 182 pounds.

He said he learned from coming in second last year that there's always room to improve, and that he can't be complacent.

Asked what's Woodinville wrestling is known for, Christensen answered:

"Just being good kids and good people as well as good wrestlers, and having a good impact on the community. Not being a sports team that has a bunch of jocks and bullies, but one that is welcoming, and kids have fun being on it."

With a 3.8 GPA, Christensen said several colleges are showing interest including Cornell, Stanford and Duke, among others, the Times report said.
