Got Extra Zucchini in the Garden? Share Your Harvest, Help Feed the Hungry.

Molbak's is collecting fruits and vegetables from home gardeners for the organization's hunger programs.

Molbak’s kicks off their (SYH) community service program on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and again each Saturday through October 13. Over the past three summers Molbak’s has responded to Hopelink’s need for fresh food with home-grown produce donations from customers and employees. More than 3,100 pounds of just-picked produce was harvested and collected for the hungry and delivered through Hopelink’s food banks in Shoreline, Bellevue, Carnation, Kirkland, Woodinville and Redmond.

“Fresh fruits and vegetables are an incredibly important part of what we offer at Hopelink.  Without donations of fresh produce we are only able to offer the very basic food staples.  It is ideal when we are able to offer a variety with donated produce,” said Glen Miller, Hopelink Communications Manager.

Hopelink offers an integrated array of programs that enable families in crisis to make progress toward self-sufficiency.

Molbak’s has made it easy to donate. Just bag up extra produce (no need to pre-wash) and drop it off at the store. Vegetables, fruits (except apples and oranges), and herbs are all welcome.
