Woodinville Halloween: How to Celebrate with Little Kids

What're some fun things to do with a toddler for Halloween around Woodinville?

Holy moley, it's been a bit since I've been able to post! Work got super crazy and with a bunch of family obligations I just didn't have it in me to get a post up. The drought is over and I'm ready to get back to my little rest stop on the information superhighway.

It's October, my favorite month! It helps that it's my birthday month, my wife's birthday month and the month that we first started dating. I also like all the fall colors and cooler temps (ha, like we had hot days and nights this summer!). I'm also a sucker for Halloween. I LOVE candy. Oh man, do I love candy. And I finally have a kid to go trick or treating for me, plus he's young enough he won't notice or really care if I steal it, heh heh!

I do have one conundrum though that I'm looking for some tips on. As you can see in the pics Jack is going as Spider-Man. That kid is CRAZY for Spider-Man. You ask him his name and half the time he points at his chest and says "Mimer-Mam" (almost two year old speak for Spider-Man). It makes this comic book Dad quite the proud papa knowing I can share one of my hobbies with him as long as I find age appropriate stuff.

Anyway, the conundrum is what to do for Halloween with him. I brought him into a work Halloween party we were having and walked him around before heading to the actual party part. One of our VP's was wearing a very crazy looking mask. It was reflective like chrome and all angles. It had a flowing cloak/cape thing coming off it that covered most of the body. Jack just stared and stared at it, and as we were leaving he said "Bye!". I didn't really think anything of it until at about 10, that night Jack woke up crying. Nothing we could do would comfort him. He has a really dim lamp in his room and every time we'd turn it off he'd cry harder. It finally dawned on us that he probably had a nightmare and was scared. He doesn't sleep with a night light or anything, but we had to have his lamp on for him to sleep.

So now we are wondering what to do for Halloween that won't scare him (it took til about 11:30 to get him back to sleep). We live right down the street from that Haunted Yard on Avondale and he seemed pretty interested, but I think we'll probably skip it. We are looking for some fun things to do on the weekend right before Halloween that won't scare Jack, but still make for a fun and memorable experience. I look forward to hearing your suggestions!
