Patty Franklin Mosaics

Franklin has been defining her version of contemporary mosaics for 10 years. She is a classically trained mosaicist who has adapted ancient techniques to fit her distinctive and intricate mosaic sculptures.

She uses glass and beads in swirls, curves, lines, and shapes with color like a swimming pool in brilliant sunshine. Patty builds her artwork like relief sculptures on a variety of forms but it’s her musical instruments that have captured the eye of collectors.

Tacoma, WA reporter Rosemary Ponnekanti states, “Some works are more subtle than others, but the instruments are as joyful and surreal as the work of glass artist Davide Salvadore."

Her work has been represented by Cole Gallery in Edmonds, WA since 2009 when Denise Cole discovered Patty’s first mosaic guitar and mandolin. Currently, Franklin is working on a new series of sculptures called “Into The Woods”; a color filled representation of the Pacific Northwest forest that she sees every day from her studio in Woodinville, WA. Her mosaic musings will have their first showing at Cole Gallery in the fall of 2012.
