They had a sneak peek on tuesday at 5:30pm. I thought I'd go by and check it out. I looked at the…Read More parking lot and it was completely full. I think people are interested in saving money and recycling these days. I will check VV out this weekend and hopefully I will find something interesting and inexpensive to add to my home.

We were sorry to see QFC go, but Woodinville has plenty of other grocery store choices, two right in…Read More town, and one nearby in Kingsgate. I am glad to see Value Village fill that space, as it will become an attractive anchor store for an ailing shopping center, and it will provide a sort of "recycling" opportunity for consumer goods.

Calling this "possibly the strangest development ever," is a bit sketchy. That radio…Read More station is people paying to have their show hosted. Did they issue a press release when they signed their advertising contract with the Weekly acting like it was a feature? No, because that is all this is, which is advertising and marketing plans!

My concern is that you are going to add another 1000+ (800 residential units) cars on the road in…Read More downtown Woodinville?! And please don be naive to think that all those people will work and walk to their jobs in downtown Woodinville. Has this issue been addressed? Sorry I didn't read the 70 page proposal yet.

Some simple math for Canterbury.
Here's how the "deal" really worked out for the…Read More DeYoungs. You forgot the interest they received from $9 million in 15+ years. That would work out to a total return of anywhere from $20 to $24 million.
So you see, DeYoungs got a much better return - $22 million vs your $15 million. You Would have made a lot more had they not contested your first sale. Conclusion, you got the shaft!

The question wasn't really about your gain Canterbury. I'd be upset that they interfered as they…Read More did. You lost $12 million!! The links I gave reveal the true history of what transpired. The original plan didn't have you in mind at all.
The whole debacle (including the "sale") was not a voluntary thing. I think the baron robber nature of the DeYoungs was at stake and to preserve the fabricated "good" DeYoung history (again being challenged by the Lucy valley antics), they had to relent or risk destroying the family name forever. Bad.
Then when the DeYoungs thought the "trick" language in the agreement might give them a lever to still get what they wanted, they tried again to control development (clearly a sign they thought only they knew what should be done).
Again the veracity of the DeYoung name was at risk (as well as an unsure claim basis). So again they relented, yet demanded the $750,000. That sounded good to Canterbury when there was potentially a better $ gain. However, when you have multi-millions to blow (see Lucy's stock investment in Frontier Bank even when it was going down) it was not a big deal. That's the REAL story here.
The question isn't what you finally might get but what you COULD have gotten had DeYoung not interfered. Just read the SeattleTimes stories discussing the issues. Pretty frank discussions.
