21 Acres: Stone Soup-Fall Harvest for Preschoolers

Preschoolers, along with a parent or care-giver, will enjoy a trip to
the 21 Acres Farm and Market to harvest or shop for soup ingredients,
then help participate in the soup preparation. Everyone will share this
scrumptious soup and enjoy hearing the story of “Stone Soup”.

The
ancient story of Stone Soup is told in many communities throughout the
world. Every culture has their own version, but they all have the same
premise: to bring community together to share resources and create a
meal. This class follows that premise. We will gather our ingredients
from the 21 Acres farm and market, prepare them, and enjoy creating a
nourishing soup while listening to the ancient story “Stone Soup”. We
will share this scrumptious soup at the end of the class.

Instructors:
Maria
Galvao (Maria's Desserts) and Donna Hawkey met and found that both have
mutual food values and philosophies. They are beginning an adventure to
spread the word to children that food is nourishing and fun, and to
teach them that choosing what you eat is an important life skill that
needs to be developed with a positive impact in our community and
environment.

Note:
- Class for 2 – 4 year olds
- This class will not be able to accommodate food allergies or special dietary needs.
- Weather appropriate clothing/shoes for a trip on the farm. Apron or smock if you choose.
